Our work in Ottawa

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

I’m proud to be your Member of Parliament and your neighbour, and deeply honoured to serve our community for a fourth term. Burnaby North-Seymour is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ílwətaʔɬ), Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh), and Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm) people. We have a vibrant and diverse community which is leading the country in many innovative and cultural fields.

I got into politics to make a difference for our community. When I first started knocking on doors, I promised that I would be the hardest-working M.P. in the country. Over the past ten years, I have done everything possible to deliver on that promise. I’ve replied to and acted on over 20,000 surveys while breaking records nationally for the most door knocks and phone calls. In 2023, I was recognized as the hardest-working constituency M.P. in Canada, and in 2024, I was the first M.P. to be recognized with that distinction two years in a row. Everyone in our community who asks for a face-to-face meeting with me gets one, and I’ve kept that promise for more than a decade. My girls, Nova and Solar, keep me more motivated than ever to continue working with our community to deliver results for Burnaby, the District of North Vancouver and Canada.

I’ve approached politics differently, placed partisanship aside and worked hard to build strong relationships with community members, leaders, and elected officials from all parties and all levels of government so that our community has a loud voice and gets things accomplished. I’ve focused on making life more affordable, improving healthcare, and fighting climate change while growing our economy. As a G7 nation, we have the lowest net debt-to-GDP ratio in the G7 and are one of only two G7 countries to hold a AAA credit rating, giving us the best foundation for economic growth. We have maintained that fiscal advantage while increasing pension benefits and healthcare transfers and launching programs like childcare, dental care, and pharmacare. These programs increase economic growth while lowering costs for local families.

As the former Minister of Citizens’ Services, I led a transformation in how Canadians access government — modernizing and digitizing services so that constituents could get what they need without standing in line or taking time off work. That experience built a foundation that continues to benefit residents in Burnaby North-Seymour and across the country, from online passport renewal to the eSIN program and faster access to Social Insurance Numbers.

Beyond my work in Cabinet, one of my proudest moments as your representative came on February 4th, 2026, when my private member’s bill C-222 (Evan’s Law) passed its Second Reading in the House of Commons unanimously. Being your voice in Ottawa is my most important job — and when that work extends beyond our riding to benefit families across Canada, it is a reminder of why this work matters so deeply.

We need this work to continue. Canada is navigating a time of real global uncertainty, and our office is here to support you every step of the way. Whether you have questions about federal programs and services or ideas for our community, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

In your service,

Terry Beech
Member of Parliament for Burnaby North-Seymour
