Canada Summer Jobs – Application Period Now Open

As we begin 2018, I’m excited to announce the start of applications for another year of the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

Each year, the program helps employers in our community create valuable summer job opportunities for full-time students between the ages of 15-30. Students are paired with small businesses, non-profits, and public sector organizations for good quality, paid learning experiences. The Canada Summer Jobs Program is a win-win. Employers benefit from government-funded seasonal help from students that bring new skills and perspectives, and students are able to gain real-world experience that they simply cannot get through study alone. The development of employable skills helps students become prepared for the good-paying jobs of the future.

After doubling the number of Canada Summer Jobs available for students in 2016, last year’s Budget 2017 investments meant 33,000 more youth were able to develop employable skills this past summer. This year, we are equally as committed to creating new opportunities for students and local employers. I encourage you to take advantage of this great program and apply for funding before the February 2nd deadline.
